Titanium has an atomic number of 22 and an atomic weight of 47.867. It is a silver-white transition metal characterized by light weight, high strength, metallic luster, and resistance to moisture and chlorine gas corrosion. α-type titanium is a hexagonal crystal system, and β-type titanium is a cubic crystal system. The transition temperature is 882.5°C. The melting point is (1660±10)°C, the boiling point is 3287°C, and the density is 4.506g/cm3. Soluble in dilute acid, insoluble in cold and hot water; strong resistance to seawater corrosion. Titanium is an important structural metal developed in the 1950s.
