1. High strength

The density of titanium is generally 4.51 grams per cubic centimeter, which is only 60% of steel. The density of pure titanium is similar to that of ordinary steel, and the strength of some high-strength titanium alloys is higher than that of many alloy structural steels. Therefore, the specific strength (strength/density) of titanium alloy is much higher than that of other metal structural materials.

2. High heat intensity

At moderate temperatures, titanium alloys can still maintain the required strength and can work for a long time at 450~500°C.

3. Good corrosion resistance

Titanium alloy works in humid atmosphere and seawater medium, and its corrosion resistance is far superior to stainless steel's pitting corrosion, acid corrosion, alkali, chloride, chlorinated organics, nitric acid, sulfuric acid, etc.

4. Good low temperature performance

Titanium alloys can still maintain mechanical properties at low and ultra-low temperatures. TA7 has good low temperature performance and extremely low interstitial element titanium alloy, and can still maintain a certain degree of plasticity at -253°C. Therefore, titanium alloy is also an important low-temperature structural material.

5. High chemical activity

Titanium has extremely high chemical activity, and has a strong chemical reaction with O.N.H.CO.CO_2, water vapor, and ammonia in the atmosphere. When the carbon content is greater than 0.2%, hard TiC is formed in titanium, and a hard TiN surface is formed at high temperature. When the carbon content is above 600°C, titanium can absorb oxygen and form a hard hardened layer. At high temperatures, with increasing hydrogen content, a hard hardened layer is formed. After inhalation, the depth of the hard and crispy surface can reach 0.1~0.15mm, and the hard and crispy surface can reach 20%~30%. It also has a strong chemical affinity and easily adheres to abrasive surfaces.

6. Low thermal conductivity and elasticity.

The thermal conductivity of titanium is about 1/4 of that of nickel, 1/5 of that of iron, and 1/14 of that of aluminum. The thermal conductivity of various titanium alloys is about 50%. The modulus of elasticity of titanium is about 1/2 of that of steel. It has poor rigidity and is easy to deform. It is not suitable for slender rods and thin-walled parts.
